Luwes Presents Agricultural AI Solutions, from Satellites to Farmers’ Smartphone Cameras

The multi-layered AI approach combines satellite imagery, weather information, drones, sensors, and field observations to produce practical and verifiable agricultural recommendations.

PT Luwes Inovasi Mandiri introduced an AI-based agricultural approach using satellite data, weather data, sensors, and field observations at Foundry AI & Agriculture Vol. 2 on 15 September 2026.
Through a presentation titled “Layered AI: From Satellites to Farmers’ Smartphone Cameras”, Parluhutan Manurung, Founder of PT Luwes Inovasi Mandiri and PT Luwes Solusi Spasial, explained how artificial intelligence can help farmers and plantation managers make more informed operational decisions.

Connecting Satellite Data with Field Conditions

Each field has different soil characteristics, weather conditions, water availability, and crop growth stages. Therefore, agricultural recommendations need to take into account the specific conditions of each location.
The layered AI approach combines satellite data and weather forecasts to monitor large areas.
Drones, sensors, Automatic Weather Stations (AWS), and smartphone cameras complement this information with more detailed observations.
Photos of crops taken by farmers or field officers can also be used to validate AI analysis results, so recommendations do not rely solely on satellite data.

AWS Nowcasting and GoAgri for Agricultural Decision-Making

On this occasion, Luwes introduced the AWS Nowcasting approach, which combines regional weather data with weather station observations to support local condition analysis.
Luwes is also developing GoAgri, a platform that processes satellite data, weather forecasts, soil conditions, and crop conditions into operational recommendations.
One of its applications is helping determine the appropriate timing for fertilization by considering rainfall forecasts, soil moisture, and crop conditions. This approach is expected to help land managers plan agricultural activities in a more targeted manner.
Nevertheless, AI remains a decision-support tool. Recommendations still need to be verified against field conditions before any action is taken.
